Lord, we gather now in your name.

We come from different places,
carrying different things —
some of us full of joy,
some of us barely holding on.

As we enter this time of worship,
set aside what does not belong here.
Quiet the distracted mind.
Open the closed heart.
Soften the defensive spirit.

Let us not go through the motions,
but truly encounter you —
the living God,
present in this room,
waiting to be known.
