Prayer for a Newborn Child

Lord, a new life has come into the world.

We marvel at the miracle of this small person —
the curl of their fingers,
the weight of them in our arms,
the impossible gift of their existence.

Watch over this child.
Protect them from harm.
Guide the hands of those who will raise them.
Grant the parents wisdom, patience, and joy
in the beautiful, exhausting, sacred work of love.

May this child know that they are wanted,
that they are enough,
that they are loved —
by us, and by you.
