Holy God,

Look with mercy upon a world wounded by war, hatred, injustice, and division. Protect those caught in violence, comfort families who have lost loved ones, shelter those forced from their homes, and strengthen all who work courageously for peace.

Soften hardened hearts. Give wisdom to leaders and courage to peacemakers. Where people have learned to see one another as enemies, awaken again the recognition that every human life is precious.

And begin Your work of peace within us, so that the peace we ask for in the world may also be reflected in the way we speak, forgive, listen, and love.
